After months of sketching and creating the final images for my most recent coloring books in the Coloring Books for the Soul series, I find that I can't stop working. Ha... no really, it's a great way to procrastinate on my domestic chores or other mundane tasks. I hide away in my studio and play with artwork. Either creating new works from the images I made for the books or brainstorming on other crafty projects, jewelry or printmaking.
Well these 4 color variations are the fruits of my Saturday's hide-away. They are from the Zodiac themed coloring book Sacred Heavens. Each image represents an element - Fire - Air - Earth - Water. They have the corresponding zodiac signs that fall in that element's category under each image. These original scratchboard images have been married with monotype prints I had created. I like bringing these 2 art forms together - adding texture and depth to the carved line work. I plan on framing them as a series.
